Then the king answered and said to the woman, Hide not from me, I pray thee, the thing that I shall ask thee. And the woman said, Let my lord the king now speak.
Then they came near, and spoke before the king concerning the king's decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask [a petition] of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing [is] true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.
And all things whatever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant [thee] thy petition that thou hast asked of him.
And it was [so], that when Solomon had made an end of praying all this prayer and supplication to the LORD, he arose from before the altar of the LORD, from kneeling on his knees, with his hands spread up to heaven.

Then answered Esther, and said, My petition and my request [is]:

Saying to them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer, but ye have made it a den of thieves.
And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest [it].
And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elijah? and he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.
Jesus answered and said to her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldst have asked him, and he would have given thee living water.
Then she said, I desire one small petition of thee; [I pray thee], deny me not. And the king said to her, Ask on, my mother: for I will not deny thee.
However, this kind goeth not out, but by prayer and fasting.
