Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 25, 2026

1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy describes how Bible Generator / Claritas (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use:

  • Our websites, including biblegenerator.com and related pages; and
  • Our Chrome extension “Bible Verse Generator - Daily Inspiration” (the “Extension”).

Contact: support@biblegenerator.com.

2. Summary

  • You can use core Scripture content on the website and Extension without creating an account.
  • We use analytics to understand product usage and improve the experience.
  • Optional Supporter accounts use email and a password; payment card details are handled by Stripe, not stored by us as full card numbers.
  • The Extension does not read your general browsing history or content of unrelated websites.
  • We do not sell your personal information.

3. Information we collect

3.1 Information you provide

  • Support messages: If you email us or submit a contact form, we receive the content you send (such as email address and message text) so we can respond.
  • Supporter account (optional): If you register, we collect your email address and password. We store a password hash (not your plain-text password) and session credentials needed to keep you signed in.
  • Library content you save (optional, Supporters): Favorites, named collections, and verse history you choose to sync to your account.

3.2 Website usage and analytics

When you visit the website, we and our analytics providers may process:

  • Page views, approximate location derived from IP (as processed by analytics providers), device/browser type, language, referring URL, and similar technical data;
  • On-site interactions needed to operate features (for example search or topic navigation signals);
  • Diagnostic logs that help us detect errors, abuse, and outages.

Website analytics are currently implemented with Google Analytics 4 (for example measurement ID associated with our site stream). Google may process data as described in Google’s Privacy Policy.

3.3 Chrome Extension usage and analytics

The Extension’s purpose is to show Bible verses (KJV) on the new tab and popup, allow sharing of verses, and optionally support a Supporter library.

We may process:

  • Local storage on your device (via Chrome’s storage APIs): a pseudonymous install/client identifier; session markers; local event logs (for example opens, verse impressions, “new verse” actions, skips, helpful votes, share actions); verse rotation/queue state; and, if you sign in, a cached auth token and library data for convenience.
  • Events sent to our servers at biblegenerator.com (for example /api/extension-analytics), which may include: extension version, surface (new tab / popup / share modal / account), language, screen resolution, timezone offset, verse references or IDs, themes/moods used for product ranking, share platform (for example Twitter, Facebook, clipboard), and similar product metrics. These events use a pseudonymous client ID, not your name.
  • Forwarding to Google Analytics: Our server may forward sanitized extension events to Google Analytics Measurement Protocol (extension analytics stream, for example measurement ID G-ZPRE6L5QBW) so we can measure installs and feature usage.

We do not use the Extension to collect your browsing history of other websites, the contents of unrelated pages, keystrokes, or microphone/camera data.

3.4 Payments (optional Supporter membership)

If you start a paid Supporter membership, checkout is handled by Stripe. We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers. Stripe processes payment and billing details under its own terms and privacy policy. We may receive limited billing-related information needed to grant access (for example subscription status, plan, period end, and Stripe customer/subscription identifiers).

3.5 Information we do not intentionally collect

  • Government ID numbers, precise GPS coordinates as a product feature, health records, or contacts lists;
  • Your Chrome browsing history outside the Extension’s own pages;
  • Payment card PAN/CVC on our infrastructure (handled by Stripe Checkout).

4. How we use information

  • Provide Scripture content, the Extension experience, and related site features;
  • Operate optional Supporter accounts, sync library data, and process memberships;
  • Measure and improve product quality (including verse selection, reliability, and feature usage);
  • Prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents;
  • Respond to support requests and communicate about the service;
  • Comply with law and enforce our terms.

We process information where needed to perform our contract with you (for example providing a paid membership you requested), where we have a legitimate interest in operating and improving a free Scripture product (balanced against your rights), where required by law, or with your consent where applicable.

5. How we share information

We may share information with:

  • Service providers / processors who help us run the product, including hosting (for example Vercel), analytics (Google Analytics), payments (Stripe), email/support tools, and databases. They may process data only as needed to provide services to us.
  • Legal and safety: if required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and security.
  • Business transfers: if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may transfer subject to appropriate confidentiality and notice practices.

We do not sell personal information and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are commonly defined under US state privacy laws. We do not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

6. Chrome Web Store and permissions

The Extension requests only the permissions needed for its single purpose:

  • storage — local preferences, verse rotation state, pseudonymous analytics identifiers/events, and optional Supporter session/library cache;
  • host access to biblegenerator.com — to send extension analytics to our API and, if you use Supporter features, to authenticate, sync library data, and open Stripe Checkout/billing.

Remote code is not loaded into the Extension package; network calls send structured data to our APIs rather than executing third-party scripts inside the Extension.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

The website may use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for essential operation, preferences, and analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect analytics or non-essential features; core reading features remain available. The Extension primarily uses Chrome extension storage rather than website cookies.

8. Data retention

  • Analytics: retained in analytics systems for as long as needed for product measurement and improvement, subject to provider retention settings and our operational needs.
  • Support messages: retained as needed to resolve your request and maintain basic business records.
  • Supporter accounts: retained while the account is active and for a reasonable period afterward for support, fraud prevention, dispute handling, and legal/accounting obligations. Billing records may be retained by Stripe as required by law.
  • Local Extension data: remains on your device until you clear site/extension data or uninstall the Extension.

9. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the data (for example HTTPS in transit, hashed passwords for accounts, least-privilege access to production systems). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International processing

We and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. Those locations may have different data-protection laws than your home country. Where required, we rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms used by our providers.

11. Children

Our services are not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

12. Your choices and rights

  • Website analytics: use browser controls, privacy settings, or industry opt-out tools where available; you may also use Do Not Track / similar signals where we honor them in product code.
  • Extension telemetry: uninstall the Extension or clear Extension storage to stop local collection associated with that browser profile. Server-side analytics already sent may remain in aggregate systems subject to retention.
  • Supporter account: you may access or update account information via the product flows we provide, manage billing via Stripe’s portal when available, and request account deletion by emailing us.
  • Privacy requests: depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, or to object to certain processing. Email support@biblegenerator.com. We may need to verify your request and will respond within the time required by applicable law.

If you are in the EEA/UK, you may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. We encourage you to contact us first so we can try to resolve your concern.

13. Third-party links and services

Our site or Extension may link to third-party sites (for example social networks when you share a verse, or Stripe Checkout). Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. We are not responsible for third-party practices.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date. Material changes may be highlighted on the site or communicated by other reasonable means. Continued use after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.

15. Limitation and disclaimers (service nature)

Scripture content is provided for personal inspiration and education. We do not provide legal, medical, financial, or professional counseling advice. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we provide the services “as is,” and our total liability arising out of privacy-related claims is limited as set out in our Terms of Service, except where liability cannot be limited under applicable law.

16. Contact
