And Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, [one] of the sons of Elam, answered and said to Ezra, We have trespassed against our God, and have taken foreign wives of the people of the land: yet now there is hope in Israel concerning this thing.

The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the prophet against Elam in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying,

Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, [saying],
I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said to me, Thou [art] my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
Ask of me, and I will give [thee] the heathen [for] thy inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth [for] thy possession.
Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish [from] the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed [are] all they that put their trust in him.
