Deliver me, O Lord, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man;

The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify concerning it, that its works are evil.

Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear testimony of the evil: but if well, why smitest thou me?
Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventers of evil things, disobedient to parents,
Tribulation and anguish upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
And not [rather] (as we are slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just.
(For [the children] being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God, according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth)
For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power; do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise from the same:
For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou doest that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, an avenger to [execute] wrath upon him that doeth evil.
